Community Data Dashboard

Renaissance Heights United serves the Renaissance Heights neighborhood of Fort Worth, TX

Renaissance Heights United is a Community Quarterback organization in the Purpose Built Communities network. In our role as a Community Quarterback organization, we partner with key stakeholders and residents to implement our community’s vision for Renaissance Heights. Our work supports the Purpose Built Communities model for impact: that every neighborhood can become a pathway to prosperity for the people who live there, resulting in greater racial equity, increased upward mobility, and improved health and wellness for residents.

Southeast Fort Worth was home to the Masonic Home and School of Texas for nearly 100 years. When it closed in 2005, it left a 200-acre site in a community with high poverty, unemployment, and crime—a rare opportunity for transformative investment. In 2006, investors began redeveloping the site, honoring its legacy of care. Renaissance Heights United launched in 2014 to coordinate programs, joining the Purpose Built Communities Network in 2015 as a Community Quarterback. Today, the site is a growing, thriving neighborhood.

This dashboard shows community data for both the Renaissance Heights neighborhood and City of Fort Worth, TX. The data presented here represent short-term outcomes in the theory of change for the Purpose Built Communities Model. Renaissance Heights | How do we estimate neighborhood indicators?

HOUSING STABILITY

We look at multiple measures to understand housing stability, which tells us that a neighborhood is somewhere that people feel invested in. Stable housing is also foundational for health, education, and economic prosperity. Information here is from the American Community Survey 5-year estimate and our local school district.

Our current work demonstrates the power of place-based transformation. The Columbia at Renaissance Square development has brought 360 quality mixed-income affordable apartment homes. Anchored by public-private partners such as the City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County and Flora Fund at the North Texas Community Foundation, these homes provide more than shelter; they are gateways to opportunity.

Additionally, in partnership with HousingChannel and Fort Worth Community Land Trust, we’ve planned over 230 homeownership opportunities and used the land trust model to lock in affordability for generations.

Together, these data points are important for understanding the vulnerabilities and financial stress within our community.

We have built partnerships with our neighborhood K-12 schools, YMCA, health centers, and The Shoppes at Renaissance. Together, these pillars create an ecosystem that supports long-term success for residents. We also plan to expand support for food security and economic mobility with an on-site food pantry and social enterprise opportunities that provide jobs, training, and empowerment for residents.

WELL-BEING

We support partners and programs that strive to improve physical and mental well-being. The below indicators help us understand the overall physical and mental well-being of our community. William M. McDonald YMCA provides state-of-the art wellness space, a gymnasium with an elevated walking track, a youth empowerment zone, and a demonstration kitchen for nutritional education. Through a partnership with the City of Fort Worth, the facility also includes an outdoor, Olympic-sized family water park accessible to the community.

Additional well-being resources in this community are Cook Children’s community health clinic with pediatric medical and dental services. ACH Child and Family Services brings resources and skills to children and families struggling with behavior health and mental health. North Texas Area Community Health Centers, provides universal qualification for medical and behavioral services, the cost for which is based on a client’s income and family size.

A note about this data: The CDC PLACES estimates are based on the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) and American Community Survey (ACS), combined with census population data. These estimates are calculated using a method that combines real data from similar areas to provide insights at the neighborhood level. While the estimates are reliable, they may not directly reflect responses from residents in a specific neighborhood.
